Stories from The Little Pantry That Could

Below is a collection of stories from a day in the life of The Little Pantry. Where People Can Be Themselves

Today was the Best Day Ever at TLPTC! Oh my goodness – we were BUSY!!  How, how, how did we have enough food? How in the heck did we have enough time? How in the world did we have enough volunteers? I don’t know, but it was Great! It was Energizing! It was Joyful! It was Amazing!  This morning I was showing two new volunteers around. They’ve been there maybe 5 minutes when one of my favorite shoppers comes up. This guy – I love him so much. He’s sweet ... Read More

Watching the Shelves Go Bare

Today was the Best Day Ever at TLPTC! Beautiful, Warm Day. Perfectly Lovely. 103 shoppers - it was smooth as buttah.  Most of you know that on Fridays we do all the food pickups and stock the shelves for Saturdays. Well yesterday we made a huge food order (our largest ever) and we crammed food into every nook and cranny of our little place. We kept moving stuff around and re-packing boxes over and over to make everything fit! Well, 103 families later, and our shelves are almost bare. We... Read More

Giving to Others

Today was the Best Day Ever at TLPTC! We were given some wonderful gifts this week. Ms. Bates and Ms. Hunt gave us an amazing amount of canned goods through a project with their students. Peanut Butter (TLPTC LOVES PB!), Chunky Soups and Canned Fruit! The stuff that our dreams are made of. Our shelves looked better than they have in a year and a half! But it didn't stop there ~ Ms. Batson gave us an amazing amount of produce! Sweet Potatoes, Onions and these cute little Squash - also the ... Read More

Jimi Hendrix vs. Chicken Noodle Soup

Today was the Best Day Ever at TLPTC! I read a book excerpt not long ago. It was “They came to our outreaches for the food and clothing, but returned to the streets still hungry, needy and hurting – week after week – month after month… To really make a difference, the intervention had to be holistic, going deeper than the needs of the body to lift the spirit while at the same time imparting practical guidance.” This has stuck with me since I read it. I was show... Read More

The Cut Finger

Today was the Best Day Ever at TLPTC! There were so many things that made this a great day! Awesome new volunteers – Martha and Mary K. The Cumberland U Group sorted through mountains of shoes and clothes. Two big Food Drives come in this week. All great, but in my opinion, the best thing that happened today was a lady cut her finger.  Ok – let me explain. There’s this lady – I’ll call her Rose. She’s….. different. A little gruff. A little defe... Read More

Who We Serve
In short, our one goal is to serve our neighbors who are in need. Our shoppers' needs are very real and whatever way we can help, we will. Food provisions - fresh fruits and vegetables, and a variety of shelf-stable goods to anyone in need is our primary mission. We strive to make a personal connection with each shopper, letting them know that they are cared for and that they are important to us.
