Stacy Downey
Stacy Downey saw a need after the 2010 flood in Nashville. Meeting countless individuals who had been displaced by the flood, she realized that access to healthy food was not a widely available resource in the area. Knowing this had to change, The Little Pantry That Could was born.
With the thought that food was a basic need and should be available to anyone, Stacy began serving selflessly the West Nashville area. Today, The Little Pantry opens its doors to people all over Davidson and surrounding counties.
This labor of love has grown throughout the years and although food is still at the heart of the organization's mission, the day-to-day operations have become so much more. You'll often find Stacy chatting about life with someone, organizing job fairs, pitching tents, giving haircuts or a variety of other needs that pop up.
About Stacy
Stacy has lived in the Nashville area for over 15 years. In 2019, after working in Ophthalmology for over 25 years, Stacy left it behind to focus her attention on the Pantry. The Pantry is now open several days a week to offer outreach for jobs, housing, rehab, etc. When she is not at the Pantry, she is probably in the woods hiking, sitting by a fire with friends, or watching drag racing.
She is also the proud human of three rescue dogs: Roxy, Roscoe Brown, and Gumbo who have made themselves well-known to Pantry guests.
