Today was the Best Day Ever at TLPTC! We had a LOT of beautiful produce today! We love us some fresh stuff ~ asparagus and grapefruit and onions and carrots! Good for the body and good for the soul. But there’s more going on here than just the food.
Towards the end of the morning, I sat down to chat with one of my shoppers. We watched a shopper and a volunteer cruise the aisles. They were laughing and talking and ended their shopping spree with a hug. He turned to me and said “What is really going on here? I’ve always wanted to ask you”. I gave him the raised eyebrow – not sure where he was going with that. He said he wanted to know why we do this. What do we get out of it? What is our agenda? What is all this about?
There was nothing for me to say but “We are a Family”. He looked away and smiled. He knew the answer, but he wanted to hear it. We kept talking and he opened up about some things. It was nice – he knew what was going on here and he knew he was a part of it. And then it was his turn to shop, so he and I cruised the aisles, talking and laughing, choosing asparagus and grapefruit and onions and carrots. And when we ended our shopping spree with a hug, he knew what he was leaving with was good for the body and good for the soul and he had heard the only words he wanted to ~ We are a Family.
