Gift Giving at TLP

Today was the Best Day Ever at TLPTC! I wanted to talk about all the Gift Giving that went on today. Since last night we have given out a bed, kitchen table, 2 microwaves, a tent, about a dozen pairs of shoes and jeans, several sets of bedding, 2 coats, a wheelchair, oh, and lots of FOOD! I could keep going, but you get the picture. It was like Christmas, but maybe even better, because these gifts were given by some amazing people who had nothing to gain. George, Richard, Christopher, Sherry,... Read More

Taking Notes at TLP

Today was the Best Day Ever at TLPTC!  While it was a great day, but it was a day that spun me around a little. By the time I got home, I had a pocket full of notes. Things that I need to work on for our shoppers this coming week. One sweet grandmother’s apartment complex caught on fire – Codes says she has to move because her apartment had smoke damage - her furniture is ruined - she doesn't know what to do. Does she have any rights? Can she receive any assistance? I... Read More

Helping Each Other Out at TLP

Today was the Best Day Ever at TLPTC!  Confession: I let something get me down and just can’t get out of the funk. A friend/ fellow volunteer and I were doing a little running around after we left TLP Saturday when we saw one of our guys. I call him an Original. He’s been coming to TLP since we opened the doors nearly 3 years ago. He’s Beautiful and Talented and has the Biggest Heart. He’s also got a monkey on his back that is slowly strangling him. He... Choosing Sides at TLP

Today was the Best Day Ever at TLPTC! When the dust settled I had the rare opportunity to just sit and talk to a few of my favorite people. This one fella - we have always said we have radically different views about the things that we tell ourselves are important – politics, religion, social issues. You know, the things that we fight about and puff up about and get indignant and self-rightous about. The things that we too often let define and divide us. I’m a “Liberal”... Read More

Love, Acceptant, and a little Al Green

Today was the Best Day Ever at TLPTC! Not a very busy day – the rain keeps away some of our shoppers who walk and it was the first of the month, and a lot of our folks don’t need us until the end of the month when their funds have been depleted. It was dreary and yucky out, so the first order of the morning – start with some music. First up was a little Al Green. At the first notes, I heard about a dozen “Whooo”s from around the room and several “UmmUmm... Read More

Who We Serve
In short, our one goal is to serve our neighbors who are in need. Our shoppers' needs are very real and whatever way we can help, we will. Food provisions - fresh fruits and vegetables, and a variety of shelf-stable goods to anyone in need is our primary mission. We strive to make a personal connection with each shopper, letting them know that they are cared for and that they are important to us.
